Methods
Two main methods are available for the control of urban foxes - culling on site or live trapping.
Most pest control companies prefer to shoot on-site because the precision equipment used guarantees that no suffering occurs.
On the other hand, trapping can result in the fox spending a few hours in a cage and although fed and watered, it may subjected to unnecessary stress, only to be taken away and humanely shot at another location.
Releasing urban foxes into the wild isn't always a humane option because this would very likely result in the animal starving or bing killed by territorial foxes in the vicinity of the release.
